Northern Star is an early maturing zucchini with a very high yield potential. The fruit are uniform, attractive and medium to dark green. The plants are open and nearly spineless to enable faster and more efficient harvesting with reduced fruit damage. Labour prefers harvesting varieties with fewer spines. Yields can be increased with a higher plant population of up to 30 000 plants per ha. Northern Star is an excellent high yielding variety with quality fruit and has intermediate resistance to Watermelon mosaic (WMV).
Special varietal requirements
- Suitable for production during summer and in winter in sub-tropical areas
- Squash seed can germinate satisfactory between 15 and 35°C. When expected average soil temperatures are lower than 15°C, we suggest the use of seedlings
